IN THE ROOM #6 – Accountability Is Defined
Accountability is a toothless tiger unless it’s upheld.
It doesn’t appear by accident.
It’s defined.
Gallup’s number one engagement item is:
“I know what’s expected of me at work.”
If expectations are unclear, accountability becomes unfair.
And accountability without ownership is noise.
So ask:
Who owns the outcome?
Who is involved?
Is there absolute clarity on what’s expected (alignment)?
When those lines are blurred, performance drifts.
Where does your team need clearer ownership?
If clearer accountability would help your team, reply ‘Room.’
