IN THE ROOM #1 – The Technical Trap (most managers miss this)

I’m continually surprised by how short our attention spans have become.

So I had a shower thought recently.

What if I shared one short, sharp leadership insight each Friday, in 75 words or less?

No fluff. No long reads. No theory.

Just something practical you can use immediately with your team.

This is the start of that experiment.

Welcome to In the Room.

IN THE ROOM #1 – The Technical Trap

I see this often.

A strong technical performer gets promoted.
Nothing changes except the title.

They still solve the hardest problems.
Still stay close to the detail.
Still jump in quickly.

It feels productive. Familiar. Like a win.

But leadership is different work.

If you’re still the best engineer in the room, your team isn’t growing.

Where are you still doing the work instead of leading the work?

Dan
